I just upgraded to the new Firefox 2.0 browser and so far I like what I see.
Some of my plug ins did not work. For instance, my Yahoo Photo Upload extension as well as a couple others. But those will be fixed promptly I am sure. The Firefox install wizard asks on load if you would like Firefox to keep track of when the outdated plug ins are updated. Very cool!

According to today's entry on Sitemeter's blog, outgoing clicks tracking has been added to the free package. I feel this has personally been a long time due, since people like MyBlogLog and others have been tracking outgoing clicks for quite awhile.
The new reporting feature looks good too. I would like to see more outgoing links tracked, but it looks like the feature is going to be refined continually over the next few weeks.
Screenshots of the new reporting features after the jump.

I love the new extension for Firefox - and thanks to Lifehacker for pointing it out.
Basically, showcase provides a way to see thumbnails of all your Firefox browser windows. But they aren't just static thumbnails. If you have blogs rebuilding and web pages loading, a simple pres sof the F12 key allows you to see thumbnail views of all pages and what the page is actually doing in realtime.
You can zoom in and out on each thumbnail, and even close thumbnails individually right from the thumbnail browser.
Of course, you need to get
first. Then go grab the extension.
I have put off CSS just about as long as I can. I hate having to post questions to forums on one of the zillions of hacks out there, and it is simply not cost-effective for me to learn the technology to the point that it is second-nature to me yet. Once the site has been mocked up and the user goals have been defined (or vice-versa), I NEED to get to work on it and turn the site around and get paid.
Don't get me wrong - I do use CSS quite a bit. But I haven't gone to the lengths some of my heroes have gone too, like Zeldman, Eric Meyer, and others. But this may change with the new book from New Riders - "Stylin' With CSS: A Designers Guide". (Although "Pimp My Stylesheets: A Designers Guide" would have been a cooler name.)

A new tool from PayPal is designed to give merchants the option of letting customers complete credit card transactions on the merchants' own sites--that is, without being redirected to PayPal's site.

To the delight of gadget freaks and the consternation of some web designers and thinkers, the new Autolink feature in Google’s latest toolbar sticks links on your site that you didn’t put there.

This is a great article reviewing 5 tools web developers can't live with out. The biggest winner I took away from it was Topstyle Lite, which is a great CSS Editor. Like the author of this article says, it helped him (and me) get over the CSS learning curve rather quickly.

"Business proposal materials to assist you in creating project proposals for virtually any business. Land more clients, save time and improve your bottom line."
That's the line ProposalKit.com uses anyways. Me and Jeremy ordered it and were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff we got for the price.
Without question, this package is worth the money! However, there were a couple of things we wish were better though. . .

Welcome back to Makovision.com. The reasons Makovision was offline are too numerous to mention, but we are glad to be back up.
If you have never received the Makovision "Cutting Thru The Crap" Newsletter, you may want to sign up now.
With a leaner, CSS-based design (though not 100% standards compliant yet), and our always up-to-date RSS Feeds, our focus will be much more on providing the news Makovision users were always accustomed to receiving. I don't think Makovision users ever felt like they were trying to be sold something. This will not change.
Thanks for sticking around,

Yes, it's true. Since Adobe acquired Macromedia they now just offer Studio 8 for web design studios.
Personally, my recommendation has always been Dreamweaver. It looks like now Adobe agrees.
You can buy the entire Studio 8 Suite, or you can buy them individually. Direct from Adobe (with complete specifications) See below:

Professional visual authoring tools should have a clean interface, multimedia capabilities, advanced site management for multiple users, support for server side scripting, and more. There are two biggies who meet these needs: Adobe GoLive and Macromedia Dreamweaver. Continue Reading "GoLive vs. Dreamweaver"

Just as Flash MX has matured into an interactive application development tool, so has Dreamweaver MX. Full support for dynamic forms and server objects covers ColdFusion, ASP, ASP.NET, JSP and PHP. Server code libraries, additional tag editors and a database panel aid in coding these languages. Supposedly you can build web-based applications and database tools in Dreamweaver with relative ease, although I haven't tried to do this yet.
GoLive also provides development tools for other technologies, but the support is not quite as diverse as Dreamweaver's. Of course, you won't find support for Macromedia's proprietary ColdFusion development, but that may not bother many. GoLive provides code libraries for ASP, JSP and PHP, and it provides panel control.
